في البداية، اخترعت آبل جهازاً فريداً، أطلقت عليه اسم iPad. لم يكن iPad اول جهاز لوحي في العالم، اي أنه لم يكن إبتكاراً جديداً بالفعل، لكن بفضل سحر آبل الخاص أصبح اول جهاز لوحي يكسب محبة الناس، أما فيما مضى كانت الأجهزة اللوحية مجرد فكرة تقنية غير قابلة للبيع بسبب إعراض الناس عنه. يمكننا القول أنه منذ البداية كان آبل هي المسيطرة في عالم الأجهزة اللوحية بفضل iPad. لاحقاً، حاولت بقية الشركات المنافسة في هذا المجال، ولا يمكننا انكار أن المنافسة كانت قوية وبعض الأجهزة اللوحية كانت جيدة فعلاً. لكن بمجرد إطلاق آبل لسلسلة iPad Pro الجديدة عادت للتربع على العرش مجدداً، دون أن يستطيع أحد المساس بمكانتها حتى! وفي 2018 أطلقت الجيل الثاني من iPad Pro وهو iPad Pro 11 (2018). لا يُعتبر هذا الجهاز من فرض سيطرة آبل في السوق، فسيطرتها كانت موجودة قبله. لكنه ضمن أن المنافسة لن تستطيع اللحاق بما تفعله آبل لعشرة سنين قادمة.
